About Me:
Hola! I am currently a graduate student at the University of California at San Diego pursuing a Masters of Education with Bilingual Authorization and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in addition to a Single Subject Credential in Spanish. I graduated in 2011 from UCLA (go bruins!) in International Development and Spanish and have spent this past year teaching English in a village in Chile, South America. It was the most challenging yet rewarding experience of my life. I learned so much from my students everyday about happiness and the human will to persevere amidst poverty and an overwhelming sense of hopelessness. It was through this experience that I saw how education can empower individuals and transform entire communities. I am a firm believer in bilingual education and the power of critical pedagogy in the classroom.
If I'm not in the classroom, you can find me at the beach kayaking or paddle boarding, eating a burrito, running by the beach, playing tennis with friends and family, or painting. I am passionate about the Spanish language, 3rd world countries, and working with today's youth. I am truly looking forward to becoming a teacher in San Diego!
